The Merge
Franco’s Classic and San Francisco Bay Area Triple Crown have merged together to form “Franco and Belus Classic”. Bigger loft (1600 square feet), More competition (1600+ birds), more prize money (over $300,000).
Advantages of Merging
Two heads are better than one. 4 hands are even better. With over 55 years of combined club level and 11 years of one loft race handling experience your birds will be well taken care of. More training, even at the end when most races really ease up. We will have the energy to keep the same routine going from beginning till the end.
The Course
The course is the very challenging East course that starts in the 5,000ft plus high deserts of Nevada, winding through mountain range after mountain range, then over the 11,000ft Sierra Mountains. Birds not only have to deal with the lack of oxygen of the high elevation but, also have many decisions to make along the way which will really test their homing ability. The average speed of this course is around 1350ypm.
The Series
The series of 6 races will test the birds. At the end “Champion Bird” will be a bird to definitely put in the breeding loft. To be that consistent over 6 weeks in a row is truly a feat in itself.
Prizes
Dollar for dollar one of the best return on investment for a race of this size. We are looking at $300,000+ in prizes in 2020.
Yearling Series
We will also be running a Yearling/Old Bird series. After the young bird series is over you can then test your birds out to 500 miles in the spring and see how they compare against birds from throughout the country on one of the toughest courses in the country.
Your Bird is Yours
Most importantly your bird remains yours. We will not keep your bird and auction it off and only give you half. All birds will remain the property of the breeder. You raised it, you paid for it, it’s yours!
